Welcome, and thank you for visiting our website.
We are a diverse group of people united by a common mission, to make disciples for Christ by being His witnesses. We are members of the Anglican Communion and The Episcopal Church in the United States. Our worship is liturgical, our preaching evangelical, and our beliefs biblical.
By liturgical worship, we mean a form of worship that is ancient, indigenous, and participatory. Our worship is ancient, in that our form of worship has been handed down from the Church since it was started by Jesus Christ and the Apostles. This does not mean that it is dead ritual. It is grounded in the Ancient Creeds and rites Christians have been using to worship and praise God for centuries. Our worship is indigenous since much of our music is contemporary, and reflects the culture in which we live. It is participatory in that we worship God together each week through common prayers, singing, and Holy Communion.
We preach Biblical sermons which instruct and inspire us to love God with our whole heart, and our neighbors as ourselves. Every sermon has one goal: Challenge the congregation to live by the grace of God. Sermons are simple and directed to everyday living. We are an evangelical church, which means we feel passionately about telling others the Good News of Jesus Christ. We want to go into the entire world baptizing people, and teaching them what Jesus taught concerning God, life, and eternity.
We are a Biblical community and theologically orthodox in our beliefs. We value the Bible as the inspired word of God revealed by the prophets and apostles. We believe the message of the Bible is as important and relevant for our lives today, as it was when it was given to our spiritual ancestors. We feel passionately about teaching God’s word to our children, so that they will be prepared for life’s challenges and struggles. We want our morals, values, and world view to reflect Biblical principles and wisdom. Our hope is that people will understand the Bible and be able to engage it with intelligence and thought, not blindly or ignorantly.
Understanding, that to be a disciple of Jesus Christ means to be a person on a journey, there is much that we have to do and learn. When we stumble, fall and fail, we are committed to getting back up and not quitting. It is an awesome time to be a follower of the Lord. If you are in the Fredericksburg area, we invite you to worship with us, and get to know us.
Faithfully,
Rev. James G. Reed
